Doomsday Banners Exhibited at Aurora University

Predicting Doomsday–“Genesis 2, Daniel and Revelation (1927)” a painting on cotton by George Bingham (1884-1957), is among folk art banners predicting the end of the world in “Unraveling Revelations: Decodings the Prophetic Charts.” This is a free public exhibit currently showing through Dec. 14 at Aurora University’s Schingoethe Museum in Dunham Hall, 1400 Marseillaise Place in Aurora. Traveling Advent Christian ministers used the colorful banners to predict the end of the world in 1843 and later to illustrate scriptures. Museum hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
