Chicago, IL- The crowd gathers closer to the stage, fog fills the air, the lights go down, the band walks out on stage, and the music starts playing.
We the Kings is currently on tour to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their first album release. In honor of this special occasion, the band played their entire self-titled album for the first time. This album included hits such as “Check Yes Juliet,” “Secret Valentine,” and “Whoa.”
Travis Clark, the lead singer of the band, told Alternative Press Magazine, “There are songs that we literally have only played two or three times in our entire career that we’ll have to play over the course of an entire tour, so I know that that’s something that’s really special to us.”
Along with all the songs played, members of the band took breaks between songs to address the audience. For example, Travis Clark told the audience:
“You sold this place out and it’s so special to us, you guys have no idea how much that means to us. And we’ll never forget it, we’ll always try to repay you, I just don’t know if we’ll ever be able to do it but I swear we will…try our absolute best.”
We the Kings, an emo pop rock band, started while the members were still in high school in their hometown of Bradenton, Florida. The original members, three of which are still in the band today, were Travis Clark, Hunter Thomsen, Drew Thomsen, and Danny Duncan. The group released three albums between 2001 and 2007. Charles Trippy replaced Drew Thomsen on bass and the band brought on a rhythm guitar player, Coley O’Toole. Since adding the new members, We the Kings have released three additional albums.
“What a crazy 10 years it’s been. Let’s see where the next 10 years takes us.” -Travis Clark
