Baseball Needs Eight vs North Central

The Aurora University men’s baseball team played the North Central men’s baseball team on April 12 at 3pm in Montgomery, IL. This none conference game ended in eight innings with the final score being 14-4 in favor of the Spartans which ended early due to a mercy ruling. North Central at a 10-8 record and the Aurora University Spartans had a 15-10 record coming into the game.

After a scoreless first inning, North Central stuck first with two runs and Aurora quickly answered with five more to end the inning. Senior Jeff Woods had allowed four singles that inning. Aurora answered with five singles and three walks which lead to Aurora taking the lead. From that inning on Aurora was the dominate team by not allowing North Central to regain the lead.

Senior outfielder Cody Gregory talked about the game against North Central saying: “North Central is always a tough opponent. To beat them is a stepping stone for our team as we get close to the conference tournament. I am very proud of how our team played against them.” This dominate victory over North Central really gave the Spartans the confidence boost.

Some of your Spartans that stood out were Freshman Austin Wiskow was three for four at bat and batted in two runs, as well as one run scored. Sophomore Cole Davis was two for four at bat also with two run and one run scored. Senior Jeff Woods was the winning pitcher and three for five at bat with two run scored and two runs batted in. Were just a couple standouts from the game. Be sure to come out and support your Spartans at their next game.
