Spartans Win in 3 Sets to Advance to Conference Finals

On Thursday November 2, in Thornton Gymnasium the women’s volleyball team

hosted Edgewood College for the Northern Athletics

Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinal round. The Spartans had it had it easy,

Sweeping the Edgewood Eagles in 3 sets to move on to the

NACC Tournament Championship. Early on Au took a quick 7-1 lead in the

first set forcing an Edgewood timeout. The Spartans continued

to pile on points winning the first set 25-16. Rolling into the second

set Au had no issue handling the Eagles, once again building an

early lead and forcing another early time out. Spartans continue to

roll through that set as well 25-17.  Edgewood took the first point in the third

set but once again could not handle the Spartans once they regained the lead.

The third set was one by Au 25-18.

As always Aurora’s Katie Vondra showed out with

21 kills and 8 digs, Emily Lines had a double-double with 36 assists as well.

Spartans tallied up 12 blocks on the night.

The Spartans will face Concordia University (Wis.)

On Saturday November 4th at 7:00 pm at CUW.
