As the Christmas season is right around the corner, and the year coming to an end, the local Marine Corps is looking for anyone and everyone who is able and willing to help serve the less fortunate children by providing some Christmas spirit.
The Marines are looking for anyone willing and able to donate toys, or monetary donations to help the local and wide spread community deliver some Christmas joy to those children who aren’t as fortunate to receive presents.
Former recruiter Staff Sergeant Rene Sotelo states, “It was always fun seeing the competition between the Poolees [future Marines] as each squad was tasked to bring in a certain number of toys and whoever brought in the most would be rewarded with doing burpees, which was everyone’s favorite exercise.”
Former Poolee, Marine Corporal Nate Casper explained, “Being able to have the competition with our squads was exciting because we worked as a team and helped those around us. It was like we were helping both the less fortunate and ourselves because we did it [competition] to work on team bonding but also helped to help the community.”
As the season comes around, do something for a good cause and help these young children by providing them with some joy for the season. Becoming a helping hand in the community is always an opportunity to help yourself as well. Bring some joy to both, you and those less fortunate around you.
